The Gardens at Harwood Place

The Lutheran Home, Inc. owns a highly successful 130-unit independent living campus named Harwood Place, located in the community of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. The challenge the organization faced was to meet the growing demand for its existing independent apartments, as well as providing for the needs of its aging resident population, while never losing sight of the needs of its existing nursing home campus, also located in Wauwatosa. Irgens was brought on board to assemble a project team to work with the Lutheran Home, Inc. to provide a full range of development services. Irgens' services included direction and coordination of all aspects of the development process, including market studies, design and engineering, priding and value engineering, local governmental approvals, financing, marketing, and oversight management of the construction process.
The resulting solution is a $16 million expansion of Harwood Place, providing for the full continuum of care for the Lutheran Home's senior population. This includes expanded common areas for senior activities, 42 additional independent apartments and 30 assisted living units, along with providing for future expansion within the campus grounds. |
