Managing this $50 million project for the Lynde and Harry Bradley Technology and Trade School Commission required construction and political acumen. The Commission was created through an intergovernmental agreement between the Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Area Technical College, and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Financing was complex: Jane Pettit donated $20 million, the City of Milwaukee granted $15 million, and the Greater Milwaukee Committee provided $6.5 million. The school, which had been discussed for more than 20 years, broke ground in 2001 and became a reality in fall 2002. |
